Yemen, located in the Middle East, is officially known as the Republic of Yemen. The economy of Yemen depends mainly on oil. The oil reserves of Yemen are small as compared to the oil reserves of its neighbors like Saudi Arabia. Most of the government revenue is generated through the production of oil. Oil is also the largest export of the country. Agriculture is the 2nd largest industry of Yemen and employs more than 50% of the workforce. Tourism is a growing and significant sector. The government is paying special attention to the tourism industry to diversify its economy, attract foreign currency and create more jobs. |
